This Book Changed My Life : The Magic of Tidying Up

Hey guys! Today I have a super useful post. I recently read the book “the life changing magic of tidying up” by Marie Kondo. The book is about the "Japanese art of decluttering and organizing”, and it was truly inspiring. So, I took the message of only keeping items the “spark joy” when held, to heart and had a deep clean-sesh. I feel fantastic after completing this and I highly suggest you do the same. Lemme break it down:

Marie suggests that you start with clothing, so I did. I placed all of my clothes on my bed as instruction and got to work

After holding each item in my hand, I had decreased the amount of clothes about 30% to 50%. Then, I said a thank you to the clothes for serving, as suggested.

(I then repeated this process with my books, papers, miscellaneous, and mementos, in that order)

Next, comes the time to put things away. I will use the clothing example.

Marie sais to order your clothes by loose categories, such as t-shirt, then cotton-like, and then organize them vertically from lightest to darkest.

Her policy for hanging things up or not is if the item is something that would look better or seems better hung up, such as flowy skirts.

(I then repeated this process with my books, papers, miscellaneous, and mementos in that order)

Ok, thanks for reading! I highly recommend the book, and I hope you learned a little from this post.

Xx,

Maddison
